The modern world is stressful, no mistake. Phones ping day and night, demanding our attention, work, family, and obligatory socialising all takes its toll. But there is salvation waiting in the wings in Splott in the form of local business Essence of Aromatherapy. This week Inksplott interviews local business woman Sarah Woodley about just what makes her business essential.
Inksplott: Hi Sarah, thank you for being interviewed for Inksplott. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your business, Essence of Aromatherapy?
Sarah: Hi there! Essence of Aromatherapy specialises in aromatherapy massage and bespoke treatments using pure, organic essential oils. It’s hugely stress alleviating, induces relaxation and assists in providing an overall feeling of wellness! The essential oils come from plants, flowers, fruits and trees and each oil has individual properties which can assist with a number of health issues.
Inksplott: How did you get into this? Can you please tell us a little about the history of your business?
Sarah: I have had an interest in aromatherapy since a young age and am fascinated by the results something which is 100% natural can have on the body and mind. Between mini quick fix techniques like using lavender to aid sleep, lemongrass and orange to boost mood, or citronella to repel insects (!!), I have used essential oils in my life, and wanted to take this a step further with providing an aromatherapy service.
Inksplott: And how come the business is in Splott?
Sarah: Well, I live in Splott so it seemed to make sense!
Inksplott: What’s your speciality?
Sarah: Each treatment involves a pre-treatment consultation in which I assess which oils will best fit your needs and create your personalised blend. I also specialise in aromatherapy facial treatments which leaves the skin feeling absolutely beautiful!
Inksplott: What’s your best story since setting up the business?
Sarah: My friend had some shoulder pain recently. We were going camping in Brecon so I took my oils and gave her a massage with the beautiful surroundings of Brecon around us! That was pretty cool! And her shoulder pain was much better afterwards which is always a plus!
Inksplott: Tell us a secret or something about Splott that we won’t know.
Sarah: My boyfriend told me recently how old some of the paving slabs are in Splott… it’s pretty amazing really… you can actually see the indentation in the stones where water has run in the same places over years and years. I had never noticed that!
Inksplott: Any exciting plans or events on the horizon?
Sarah: I would like to develop and make my own products in the future, but other than that Just to continue to provide a service and help people to relax and feel good.
Inksplott: That’s great – thank you Sarah for the interview!
