Yet another great tale of a Splott resident striking out on their own! Today we interview Rachel Rees about her business supplying children’s books.
Inksplott: Hi Rachel, Thank you for being interviewed for Inksplott. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your business, Usborne Books Cardiff?
Rachel: I’m an independent Usborne Book representative working from home supplying children’s books.
Inksplott: How did you get into this? Can you please tell us a little about the history of your business?
Rachel: It can be difficult to find work that fits around children. As I am my own boss I can fit it around school times, holidays or any other commitments. I saw an ad for becoming a book rep, looked into it & found it could work for me. To be honest this is a new venture in very early stages.
Inksplott: And how come the business is in Splott?
Rachel: I have lived in Splott since my birth. Everything is so close, city centre , the bay.
Inksplott: What’s your speciality?
Rachel: Books from babies through to teens. From story, activity, sticker, cookery, card games, reading programmes. A huge range to choose from.
Inksplott: What’s your best story since setting up the business?
Rachel: It’s just amazing how much more I interact with the community; I meet new people by just being around my local area more!
Inksplott: Tell us a secret or something about Splott that we won’t know.
Rachel: I don’t think I know any! To be honest, your page has taught me a thing or two about the place I live!
Inksplott: Any exciting plans or events on the horizon?
Rachel: I’m hoping to host a book party during the summer holidays further details will be available on my Facebook page by July.
Inksplott: How can people follow you online? Do you have Facebook, Twitter or a website?
Rachel: Yes, I have a Facebook page with all details & catalogue links.
It’s https://www.facebook.com/Usborne-Books-Cardiff-173534703492198/
Inksplott: That’s great – thank you so much for the interview!
