A roundup of Recycling Services, Trees & Tips – Christmas Arrangements 2021
There will be no changes to recycling and waste collection dates over the Christmas period. Collections will take place on the normal days in your local area.
Recycling and waste should be placed out by 6am on collection day, and no earlier than 4.30pm the day before.
Christmas trees – household collections
Cardiff Council will be running household collections of Christmas trees in Butetown, Adamsdown, Splott & Tremorfa, Plasnewydd & Roath on the 6th of January 2022.
Trees must be put on the kerbside loose. Please take care to remove all Christmas decorations.
They must not be cut up and placed into green bins/white re-useable sacks. No other garden waste will be collected.
Christmas trees- other recycling options
Christmas trees can be brought to a Household Recycling Centre, and placed into the garden waste skip. Please remember to book an appointment.
The council will also be running a Christmas tree drop off zone in Heath Park Community Centre (Heath Park), off King George V Drive on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th January, 10am-4pm.
Your tree will need to be brought loose- the council will be unable to accept any netting, sacks or bags.
Getting hold of recycling equipment
Demand for household deliveries of green recycling bags and food waste liners remains high. Please only order using this system, if you are unable to access a local stockist.
Your nearest local stockist can be found by typing in your house number/postcode at Get more bags and caddies (cardiff.gov.uk)
If you are unable to visit a local stockist, order your recycling bags in plenty of time. The standard delivery timescale is 15 working days, but this does increase in times of high demand.
