Willows High is upping the bar this festive season by adding a foodie element to their traditional school Christmas Fayre and is looking for more stalls.
Over the last couple of years, food festivals seem to have become incredibly popular and a great opportunity for people to go along and sample local food, drink and produce before buying. It’s a great way for local businesses to meet their potential customers, as well as the opportunity for the public to try something new and find out about local produce and where to get it, which they may not have know before.
Willows High is excited to be able to offer the opportunity to book stalls, to food and drink providers from across south wales. Stalls are £15 each, which will includes table hire. If any other resources are needed, stall holders should make contact to arrange this. Willows hopes to get a range of sellers from welsh cakes to pies, to sweets to fresh produce to beer and anything in between.
There will be baking competitions too and they will be taking entries on the day. There will be a primary section, for children up to 11 yrs. There will be 3 sections- decorated cupcakes, welsh cakes or a Victoria sponge cake. Senior section 11-16 yrs who can, make and decorate cupcakes, brownies or welsh cakes. The and overs category which will have 4 sections- welsh cakes, brownies, scotch eggs and fruit jams or chutneys. It will be 50p per category entered.
Willows hopes that there will be plenty of entries and the primary schools and local organisations get on board with this and put some entries in.
The junior section will be mostly about the fun, but the overs has potential to be quite a serious category…… Mr Norman is trying to perfect his Scotch Eggs as we speak!!! They are happy to take team entries too, for example Oasis or Keep Splott Tidy (gauntlet thrown!!!).
Also, if you know of any fairly decent cooks or cake decorators who would like to go up on the stage and do a demo to a small audience they would be very grateful… it would be filmed and projected onto a screen behind. There will be a couple of tables up there as a work space and access to a double ring electric hob.
Don’t be put off if you are more of a traditional stall holder though, they will also be offering traditional crafts and gift stalls too, so please get in touch.
There will also be the traditional family fun stalls, face painting, bouncy castle, raffle and of course Santa. When you’re all shopped out, you can sit and enjoy a cake and a cuppa in out café area. There will be a brass band supporting the event with carols being plaid throughout.
The festival will be on 1st December at Willows High, Mercia Road, Tremorfa between 11am and 3pm.
