Looking to make new friends, build your confidence or just have a chat? Then there’s a group in Splott that may interest you.
FAN is a South Wales Charity that brings people together from around the corner and around the world.
Here’s a message from FAN Development Officer, Sarah Duncan-Jones:
“We have 14 weekly groups meeting in Cardiff and our Splott group is particularly international … we meet for an hour on Wednesdays at 1pm, in Oasis 69B Splott Road, and many people who attend Oasis regularly – who are seeking asylum, or who are refugees, attend the group.
FAN is a structured conversation – everyone gets a chance to speak and lots of time to listen! We introduce ourselves, we talk about our week and we talk about a topic. The topic changes weekly and often reflects the issues of the day.
If you are learning English, having the chance to speak without interruption can help you build confidence; by sharing a little about our lives we meet as friends and equals and we develop a feeling of community.
To find out more about FAN take a look at our website www.thefancharity.org or our facebook www.facebook.com/THEFANCHARITY or better still – come along to our group in Oasis on Wednesdays at 1pm. Our next meeting is on Wednesday 6th April.”
