New Cardiff Gov App allows residents to report fly-tipping direct to Council (among other things!)

Cardiff residents have a new way of connecting digitally with the council following the launch of the ‘Cardiff Gov’ App.

The free mobile App, which is available via the Google Play Store and the Apple App store sends reminders when it’s time to put out recycling and waste for collection.

Geotagging technology means residents can also use the app to notify the council of the exact location of fly-tipping – simply by taking a picture.

The App also allows residents to check their Council Tax account on the go, with more services and functions to be added over the coming months.

Cabinet Member for Finance, Modernisation and Performance, Cllr Chris Weaver, said:

“Residents increasingly expect to be able to access our services digitally and that access should be indistinguishable from the digital access they enjoy in other areas of their lives.  The launch of the Cardiff Gov app is a step towards achieving that goal and provides a smarter new way to connect with us, around the clock.

“We’re determined to continue improving the efficiency and effectiveness of council services.  Doing that in the face of continued budgetary constraints means a digital first approach, making the best possible use of technology, is vital.”

To download the App search for ‘Cardiff Gov’ in the Google Play Store or Apple’s App store.  If needed, residents can get help downloading and installing the App by visiting one of their local Hub.
