Beware of Phone Scammers!
Shared Regulatory Services and South Wales Police are warning residents to be cautious and vigilant as a number of reports have been received about scammers telephoning residents out of the blue claiming to be police officers.
The scammers are telling victims of the fraud and that they need their “help” for undercover operations which ultimately involve handing over money to the scammers. Please be on your guard and speak with your friends, neighbours and relatives about this scam as these scammers are very persuasive and convincing.
The advice from Shared Regulatory Services is never to give out personal details over the phone and to put the phone down straight away. For advice on scams, call the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06
Anyone who thinks they may have fallen victim to a scammer should report it via 101 or Action Fraud 0300 123 2040. Further information about the scam can be found on this link.
