What needs to be in our museum of Splott?
Can you help tell the story of Splott to create our community’s very own ‘pocket museum’?
We’re creating with you ‘The Story of Splott in 50 objects’, celebrating our rich heritage by creating a
‘pocket museum’ – a pack of 50 cards, with each card celebrating a different part of the Splott story.
Did you know?
- Splott once boasted an aerodrome that served as an RAF base in World War 2
- We had a local MP who was Prime Minister
- A tree in Splott made the finals of the Wales national ‘Tree of the year’ competitions
- Craig Bellamy, Head Coach of the Welsh national team grew up in Splott.
We’re looking for objects – things, places, people, events – that tell the story of Splott. Or Is there anything you can add to the ideas already submitted, their stories, any memories, anecdotes, sad or funny things that you associate with these objects?
Most important, is there anything you think missing from the list of ’50 objects’- things, places, people,
events – you would you add?
To help jog your memory or spark your thinking, we’ve produced a catalogue of ideas for potential
objects. There’s lots of interesting things you may not know about the history and heritage of Splott. Do
check out the list here.
We are hoping to feature every object nominated here on Inksplott, and your idea could be featured in
the ‘pocket museum’.
In the New Year we will be launching a crowdfunder appeal to help fund the printing of the ‘pocket
museum’ which will also provide for copies for those unable to contribute to the fundraising.
