Cardiff Bay WI is encouraging people from Splott to join their group and enjoy taking part in their group and activities.
The group meets every third Tuesday of the month and there’s lots going on from painting to patchwork to philosophical discussions.
While there’s no WI in Splott (yet – watch this space!), WI member and Splott resident, Libby Spackman said:
“I moved to Splott 18 months ago, didn’t know anyone in the area so thought I’d join a local group to meet people. It’s been a great way to make new friends, have fun and learn new things. In the last year we’ve had a variety of activities including bongo drumming, a walking history tour of the bay, Christmas decoration workshop and lots of other exciting things. It feels great to be a part of the wider WI community.”
The Women’s Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Since then the organisation’s aims have broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK. The WI celebrated its centenary in 2015 and currently has 215,000 members in over 6,500 WIs.

If you would like to take part, join Cardiff Bay WI at the Women’s Workshop, Clarence Road every third Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm.
